In advance of World AIDS Day 2021, #GenEndIt and its coalition members marked the 40th anniversary of the first reported cases of HIV/AIDS by organizing a virtual event to discuss our achievements, challenges, and goals as we continue to strive to end the HIV/AIDS crisis by 2030.
Key speakers included:
- Ndaba Mandela – Chairman & Co-Founder, Africa Rising Foundation
- Sekgabo Seselamarumo – Sentebale’s Let Youth Lead Advocate
- Siyabonga Mnguni – CTAOP ‘s Youth Worker at Dlalanathi
The event was attended by over 40 representatives from #GenEndIt partner organizations, leaders from youth-run organizations, and donors. One over-arching theme of the discussion was the essential role of young people as leaders in the HIV social movement, and the need to increase support for youth leadership and youth-led responses to end AIDS by 2030.
